The wired/ fixed Communication Group

The wired/ fixed Communication Group

Introduction

The main mission of this research group is to create, develop and prevail new technologies in the field of wired communications. To this end, this group conducts R&D activities in the field of the intended technologies, identifies new technological advances, provides localized version of the required technologies, transfers technical knowledge, sets regulatory rules, mentors to governmental and private sector organizations, designs and develops new network based services and provides technical and engineering services in the field of wired communication technologies and network based services.

Some of the technologies fitting to the defined mission of this research group are:

  • Infrastructures and architectures based on packet switches
  • Networks based on IP/MPLS and Metro Ethernet, …
  • Software Defined Networks (SDN)
  • Network Function Virtualization (NFV)
  • Telecom cloud infrastructure for hosting virtual network functions (NFVi)
  • IP based Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)
  • VoLTE/ViLTE
  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • The Core of the 4G and 5G mobile networks
  • Blockchain

Mission
