description

Optical networks play an increasingly important role in the transmission of information in modern telecommunication arena. Therefore to pursue this trend in Iran, ICT research Institute is initiating the development of three prototypes of  STM-16 optical multiplexer systems for multiplexing four STM-4  level optical signal with the following features:

  • Ability to monitor SSM (Synchronous Statues Message) signals in the synchronization section
  •  Utilizing some algorithms to prioritize input signals
  • Providing multiplex section protection (MSP) mechanism
  •  Design based on a management software architecture  that supports the following  functionalities:
    • Failure-management functions, management configuration, performance management & security management

The proposed STM project comprises three phases which will begin following completion of the feasibility study:

• Multiplexing of four STM-4 optical input signals into one STM-16 optical signal & De-multiplexing on the reverse side

•  Customizing our prototype design to comply with the (ITU-T) standards and to fulfill requirements for national optical-based transmission network , then passing the know-how and experience down to domestic manufacturers

•   Building on the knowledge and expertise, moving to the next step of developing  world class STM-16 products aimed for the overseas market
